Exceed Catering — Kitchen Structure

A purpose-built commercial kitchen for Exceed Catering in Ntinda — fully designed, fabricated and erected by SMAARam. The steel frame was sized to carry the concentrated loads of heavy catering equipment, commercial refrigeration and high-traffic kitchen operations. Secondary steelwork was fabricated to support the extraction canopy, worktop subframes and overhead service runs, all coordinated with the kitchen layout to keep the fit-out sequence clean and efficient. Internal steelwork was finished with a food-safe primer, and all connections to the existing building were load-tested before handover.

Brentec Vaccine Facility

A complete structural steel package for a large-scale vaccine storage and processing facility — delivered from workshop fabrication all the way through to final erection. The main structure uses fabricated steel portal frames carrying the insulated cladding envelope that maintains the cold-chain environment inside. SMAARam also framed up the two-storey administration block, coordinating the steel interface between the office structure and the main industrial hall. The full scope was completed on schedule with no disruption to Brentec's commissioning programme.

Kareflo Grain Facility

A wide-span grain storage warehouse built on curved steel portal frames fabricated entirely in-house. The arched frame profile was rolled and welded to shape, giving the building its sweeping roof line while keeping the interior completely column-free — essential for bulk grain storage and heavy machinery movement. The steel cladding and large roll-up doors were integrated into the frame design from the outset, with every connection sized to handle the heavy agricultural loads this structure carries year-round.

Operations Warehouse

A heavy-duty industrial warehouse built to handle large-vehicle maintenance operations. The curved steel portal frames provide a wide, unobstructed interior bay, while oversized sliding door openings — demanding additional structural steelwork to bridge the missing frame positions — allow full-size plant and equipment to move in and out freely. The steel frame meets a rendered masonry plinth at low level, with a carefully detailed interface between the two materials to ensure long-term weathertightness and structural integrity.

Carpentry Workshop

Structural steel fabrication and erection for a fully functional carpentry workshop — wide-span steel portal frames erected over an open-bay design, giving the interior the unobstructed space needed for large timber processing equipment and machinery movement. Fabricated in our own workshop and erected on site to specification.

Silos & Tanks — Fabrication & Erection

Custom-built bulk storage in steel — fabricated and erected to exacting standards. The corrugated grain silos were assembled from rolled steel rings, stacked and bolted with sealed joints to safely contain the significant lateral pressures that bulk grain exerts. A steel gantry and conveyor tower was fabricated as a braced lattice structure and erected alongside the silos. Heavy-gauge storage tanks were built up from welded steel plate, with all access ladders, platforms and process pipework fabricated in-house and fitted during erection to keep site time to a minimum.

Truck Shade Structure

A wide-span steel canopy engineered to shelter heavy haulage trucks year-round. The fabricated steel frames were designed to handle the uneven loads that come with large vehicles parking on one side of the structure, with robust column bases anchored into reinforced concrete foundations to keep everything stable under wind and eccentric load. Steel purlins carry the corrugated metal roof, with ridge and eaves flashings site-fitted to produce a clean, weather-tight finish.

Multi-Bay Curved Carport

A multi-bay steel carport structure fabricated and erected using curved arch members rolled in-house to a consistent profile across every bay. The arched portal frames give the structure its distinctive roof line while providing a wide, column-free covered area underneath. Diagonal steel bracing was installed between bays to carry wind loads back into the concrete strip foundations, and purlins were fixed across the curved rafters ready to receive the roof cladding. The structure was erected on a prepared concrete slab in an open rural site, with all steelwork fabricated, painted and delivered to site for a fast, efficient erection sequence.

A four-storey apartment block in Kampala delivered from foundation through full structural works to finishing — showcasing SMAARam's capability across every stage of multi-storey residential construction.
